  28. UK Universities have joined forces with British Telecom
  29. to bring the European ISDN Event to six locations
  30. within the regions and nations of the United Kingdom.

  32. The event runs from 14th - 16th December 1993.

  37. ISDN, or Integrated Services Digital Network
  38. represents the state of the art in Pan European communications
  39. and supports many new applications like Videophones, high
  40. quality, high speed facsimile transfer and inter computer
  41. communications.
  42. The solution provided by ISDN is relevant to almost all sectors
  43. of the economy from the smallest companies to International
  44. organisations.

  46. Business Solutions for Europe '93.

  49. The European ISDN Event (EURIE '93) is being held simultaneously in
  50. over 70 sites in most European Countries and is being supported
  51. by 22 network operators. The event has the full backing and
  52. support of the Commission of the European Communities.
  53. EURIE is the biggest ISDN event the world has yet seen.

  55. The UK National Event, being titled `Business Solutions for Europe '93'
  56. occurs simultaneously at six locations. The locations are

  58. BT Business Centre in London Docklands, England
  59. BT Business Centre in Birmingham, England
  60. BT Business Centre in Glasgow, Scotland
  61. University of Salford, Manchester, England
  62. University of Ulster, Londonderry, Northern Ireland
  63. University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Wales

  65. Worlds Largest ISDN Videoconference as Opening Ceremony.

  68. EURIE '93 will be opened by Mr Jean-Pierre Jouyet, deputy
  69. head of Cabinet of President Delors accompanied by Mr Michel
  70. Carpentier, Director General of DGXIII of the CEC. The opening
  71. ceremony will take place in Brussels and will be transmitted
  72. by ISDN to a total of 22 centres across Europe. This will be
  73. the world's largest ISDN videoconference.

  75. Santa Claus, Live from Lapland.

  78. As part of Telecom Finland's contributions to EURIE '93, they have
  79. arranged for Santa to be accessible live from Lapland via videophone.
  80. As we all know, Santa's grotto is based in the town of Rovaniemi on
  81. the Arctic Circle in Lapland. He will be talking to his friends from
  82. all over Europe.
